Medicinal plants

Selling medicinal plants and imparting knowledge about them is essentially "our roots." This practice was already practiced in the old Dürrkrättlerei (dry herb factory) in 1793, and we continue it with enthusiasm.

Herbs are valuable natural products and work as a whole. They contain many valuable ingredients such as essential oils (which determine a plant's smell and taste), bitter substances (which we all urgently need for our digestion), tannins, mucilage (which has a soothing effect on mucous membranes), flavonoids, vitamins, minerals, trace elements, and much more.

Only when these substances are present in sufficient quantities can medicinal herbs develop their beneficial effects!

Quality

The herbs you buy from us are of outstanding quality! They are tested according to the strict criteria of the European Pharmacopoeia for purity (impurities and residues) and, above all, for their specified minimum percentage of active ingredients .

For example, pharmacopoeial-grade peppermint leaves contain twice as much essential oil as peppermint leaves sold as food. You can taste, smell, and feel it!

You'll find this quality not only in our medicinal herbal teas, but also in our delicious house blends and aromatic spices. Because not all cinnamon is created equal!

Monodrugs

The word drug originally means: medicinal plants or parts of plants, fungi, animals or microorganisms preserved by drying.

Monodrug means “single drug”: you can therefore get a lot of individual herbs from A like Alant to Z like Zinnkraut.

Tea blends

Our house blends support well-being, taste (mostly) delicious, are made from high-quality herbs, and have no calories!

We also have many organic herbal and spice teas in tea bags, for those who like their teas quick and easy.

Spices – mmmhhhh!

Spices not only captivate with their taste and aroma, but also make our mouths water. They stimulate our digestive juices and support our organs—medicinal plants that we consume in small doses every day.

Tip: A well-stocked spice rack is a small medicine cabinet!

  • For mild digestive problems: tea made from fennel, caraway and anise
  • For colds: Foot bath with thyme, marjoram and sage
  • For the onset of period pain: compress with marjoram infusion

You can find literature about spices and recipes on our bookshelf.
