The 9x-fired bamboo salt has a coarse grain and a dark, purple color, which is why it is also called purple salt. It takes three years to produce, as it undergoes nine firing processes that remove impurities and increase the mineral concentration. The high sulfur content gives bamboo salt its intense flavor – initially very salty, then slightly sweet over time.
