What is bamboo salt?
Bamboo salt is a precious sea salt that has been traditionally handcrafted by Buddhist monks in Korea for over 1,000 years. The sea salt is filled into bamboo tubes, sealed with clay, and fired several times in a kiln. Each firing removes impurities while simultaneously increasing the mineral content. Bamboo salt fired twice has a less intense flavor than the nine-fired version. It tastes spicy and slightly sulfurous. Over time, you become accustomed to the distinctive flavor and can even detect a slight sweetness.
What makes bamboo salt so special?
Rich in minerals:
Unlike conventional salts, bamboo salt is particularly rich in important minerals, which the body needs more than ever today. Thanks to the unique manufacturing process, the minerals from the bamboo, clay, and resin are transferred into the salt, significantly improving its nutritional composition.
High pH:
Because bamboo salt has a very high pH value between 9 and 12, it is highly alkaline. It can therefore help neutralize your body's acid-base balance.
Purity:
The firing process at over 1300°C removes chemicals and other impurities that can be found in conventional sea salt, resulting in a pure, mineral-rich product that can be optimally absorbed by the body.
Application:
The twice-fired bamboo salt is very fine and perfect as table salt. You can simply sprinkle it over your dishes to add a rich flavor while also increasing their nutritional value. It's also ideal for making brines. Bamboo salt is not only a delicious ingredient for your kitchen, but also a natural supplement for your health.
