Bamboo salt – a mineral-rich seasoning with tradition. Bamboo salt is more than just a seasoning – it provides valuable minerals and adds a special flavor to dishes. The 9x-fired bamboo salt has a coarse grain and a dark, purple color, which is why it is also called purple salt. It takes three years to produce, as it undergoes nine firing processes that remove impurities and increase the mineral concentration. The high sulfur content gives bamboo salt its intense flavor – initially very salty, then slightly sweet over time. It has many uses: as a seasoning, for brushing teeth, in baths, or as a saline solution for the nose and face. Bamboo salt originates from Korea, where it was developed by monks as a medicinal remedy 1,000 years ago. Repeated firing makes it particularly alkaline (pH 9–12) and can neutralize acidic foods. To protect it from light, the 9x-fired bamboo salt is packaged in Miron violet glass, which preserves its shelf life and effectiveness.

Vitamin D is essential for the maintenance of bones and teeth, the function of muscles and the immune system and plays a role in cell division. It works closely with vitamin K to maintain normal bones: Vitamin D3 stimulates the formation of osteocalcin, which is activated by vitamin K2 to efficiently store calcium in the bones. Vitamin K2 is barely absorbed through the diet. Dr. Jacob's Vitamin D3K2 Oil Forte contains long-chain vitamin K2 (menaquinone-7) with high bioavailability and stability. It stays in the body for up to three days, about 50 times longer than vitamin K1. Only 12% have good vitamin D3 levels, and in winter this figure is below 5%. Diet contributes little to vitamin D supply; UVB sunlight is crucial for the skin's own synthesis. Deficiency is particularly common in winter, but factors such as sun protection or a dark skin type can also inhibit vitamin D synthesis in summer. Studies show that endogenous production is often insufficient, even in summer: Only 12% of the German population achieves the annual average vitamin D level of over 75 nmol/l (1,2) recommended by leading scientists, and in winter, even less than 5%. The lower limit of at least 50 nmol/l recommended by the German Nutrition Society (DGE) is achieved year-round by only 38% of Germans.(3) Experts also disagree on the correct intake recommendation. In fact, this depends on many factors: baseline value, age, weight, sun exposure, skin color, etc. The DGE recommends a serum level of at least 50 nmol/l and 800 IU (20 µg) of vitamin D daily (from the age of 2, if endogenous synthesis is lacking). The renowned American Geriatrics Society recommends that all people aged 70 and over take 4000 IU (100 μg) of vitamin D daily (from all sources) to maintain a good serum level of at least 75 nmol/L. This corresponds to the daily intake established by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) as safe (tolerable) for people aged 11 and over. (1)Holick et al. There, damask roses are grown by hundreds of small farmers on the slopes of the Lalehzar Mountains at an altitude of 2,000-3,000 meters above sea level and distilled in the valley by the cooperative. The farmers also share in the profits of the rose distillery. A nice anecdote: the mash of the petals resulting from rose distillation, which was previously a waste product, is pressed into brick molds and dried in the sun and used as rose bricks for heating.
