Interesting facts about the Maca plant
Maca (Lepidium Meyenii Walp) is a root that grows only in the highland zones of the Peruvian Andes, on the Junin Plateau, at an elevation of 4,250 meters. The plant was domesticated approximately 2,000 years ago (primitive maca varieties have been found at archaeological sites dating back to 1,600 BC). The Incas used the maca plant as part of their daily diet.

Maca is a food with a particularly high concentration of various nutrients. The synergy of maca nutrients supports the body in maintaining health, restoring natural balance, and contributing to overall well-being.
Its mode of action is particularly through the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, helping the body produce hormones and establish and maintain hormonal balance and all the benefits that come with it.

Maca is an adaptogenic plant
An adaptogenic plant is a substance (food or nutrient-rich herbs) that makes the body resistant to physiological and emotional illnesses.

Adaptogenic plants increase the body's overall resistance, are able to normalize bodily functions, are neither dangerous nor stressful for the body and can be consumed over long periods of time as food and for preventative purposes.

Support Greek small farmers and projects on Zakynthos with the best olive oil!

ANTA organic olive oil (highest quality level: extra virgin) is different from all other olive oils on the market:

It is unfiltered and unblended (both are good and very rare) and comes directly from the farmer.
It has an oleocanthal value that is 4 times higher than the global average! (Oleocanthal is a phenol found exclusively in olive oil. It is known for its anti-inflammatory effects.) See analysis overleaf!

It comes from a socially-ecologically sustainable project on the Greek island of Zakynthos.

It is certified organic, with a protected geographical indication of the production area (Zakynthos island in Greece), the respective farmer is named on the can or canister.

It has a distinctive aroma: first a touch of Mediterranean bitterness, then mild. A high density olive oil with a greenish color.

With “ANTA organic olive oil” you directly support small organic farmers to remain certified. Simply by paying a fair price that helps the farmers pay the organic fees.

Zakynthos has a marine national park dedicated to protecting Mediterranean coastal ecosystems. These ecosystems are home to sea turtles and monk seals. Your purchase of “ANTA organic olive oil” supports a project in the Zakynthos Marine National Park and thus the survival of these incredible creatures.

ANTA organic olive oil opens up the opportunity to purchase first-class pure olive oil and thus support the smallest organic farmers. This project thus contributes to the preservation of small agricultural ecosystems as well as the preservation of the habitats of sea turtles and monk seals.

For those who want to know more:

The Zante currant isn't a raisin; it's a small, jewel-like red grape that grows in a tiny bunch that fits in the palm of your hand. The fresh berries themselves are delicious, a tiny, juicy burst of aromatic pulp. Zante currants come from the red wine grape variety Korinthiaki. The name refers to the town of Corinth, or rather, the Ionian island of Zakynthos (it's called Zante in Italian).
The black grape is small and ideal for cooking, for example, in muesli, couscous, cookies, and Christmas stollen. (In this stollen, it was the original raisin, as it was the black gold of Greece, with which Hellas paid off its debts in the 19th century.)
The “black gold” that grows on the vine
Today, the Greek island of Zakynthos is known for its stunning natural beauty. Yet there was a time when the island was famous for its main export: the "black gold," the Zante grape . For centuries, and until about a decade ago, this fruit could not be grown outside of certain areas of Greece, and Zakynthos produced a large percentage of the world's raisins. The Hellenic statesman Xenophon Zolotas said that raisins were to Greece what coffee was to Brazil.
But the term "black gold" refers to something more than this fruit's monetary value: The Zante currant, it turns out, has had a reputation as a superfood for a thousand years, and modern studies have begun to substantiate the traditional belief in its "magical" properties. Also grown in the Peloponnese and known as the raisin of Corinth, this fruit was known as early as 72 AD, when Pliny first described it in writing, and it is said that Christopher Columbus carried it on his ships and Hannibal on his elephants to keep their soldiers healthy.
ANTA's Zante currants are pesticide-free and completely organic. Our current supplier, Panagiotis Kambitsis-Xirogiannopoulos, is a pioneer, the very first commercial organic farmer on Zakynthos.
HANDPICKED
Harvesting currants by hand prevents bruising and preserves the integrity of the fruit.
SUN-DRIED
According to ancient Zakynthian tradition, currants are usually spread out in the sun on specially prepared threshing floors in August. After eight days, the grapes are turned and left to dry for a few more days.
STEM REMOVAL
The currants are then taken from the field to the processing unit of the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Zante, where the stem is removed from the raisin, and the raisins are packaged and returned to the farmer's home.
CONSERVATION
ANTA Zante currants are free from preservatives and pesticides: the fruit is frozen and not treated with preservatives or pesticides.

ANTA almonds: hand-picked from ancient almond trees.
These ancient almond varieties are highly aromatic, no comparison to mass-produced almonds!
The almond trees on Kea are grown without plowing, watering, or spraying.
ANTA almonds are harvested from old fields containing a mixed variety of old almond trees.
This results in almonds of varying sizes being harvested, and there is only a small harvest per year.
The Antaconcept Almond Project supports small organic farmers on the Cycladic island of Kea to promote endemic Greek almond varieties.
In recent years, these have increasingly been replaced by Californian varieties, which grow larger but require additional water and fertilization.
