These ancient almond varieties are highly aromatic, no comparison to mass-produced almonds!
The almond trees on Kea are grown without plowing, watering, or spraying.
ANTA almonds are harvested from old fields containing a mixed variety of old almond trees.
This results in almonds of varying sizes being harvested, and there is only a small harvest per year.
The Antaconcept Almond Project supports small organic farmers on the Cycladic island of Kea to promote endemic Greek almond varieties.
In recent years, these have increasingly been replaced by Californian varieties, which grow larger but require additional water and fertilization.
